New South Wales Governor visits Hung Vuong hospital
During a visit to Vietnam, the Governor of New South Wales Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Margaret Beazley AC KC and delegation visited Hung Vuong Hospital – a leading medical centre specialising in obstetrics and gynaecology (OBGYN) in the south of Vietnam.
They were introduced to the VIETRAD system – a machine learning powered system that improves the accuracy of radiologic diagnosis of breast cancer, funded by #Aus4Innovation. It was an opportunity to see how Australia and Vietnam cooperate in technological areas. The delegation was pleased to learn that doctors trained on VIETRAD at Hung Vuong Hospital achieved 80-90% rate of accuracy in detecting abnormalities on mammograms.
VIETRAD has been developed through a partnership between the University of Sydney and the Health Strategy and Policy Institute.
