Production Enhancement
We have a well-established, leading program of research focussing on enhancing gas production from low permeability reservoirs, starting at laboratory experiments up to supporting field trials. Our objective is to understand the behaviour of the reservoir under production through laboratory characterisation. The laboratory setting enables the evaluation of production strategies to improve reservoir performance.
Our commercial reservoir simulator SIMEDWin can perform production forecasting at individual well scale and at field scale using the laboratory data and, integrated with in-house techno-economic analysis, provides information on the feasibility of production strategies.
Our remote field laboratory is equipped to gather crucial data from new and existing well fields to understand and predict fluid migration and reservoir performance.
One of our flagship projects, which combines all of the above elements, is the stimulation of gas generation in coal seam gas reservoirs. The project’s objective is to enhance the generation of biogenic gas and rejuvenate depleted reservoirs.
