Sala Tuiafiso Sagato: Commercial Farmer and Consultant
Sala Sagato Tuiafiso is a commercial farmer with the Grower Samoa Farmers Association and a consultant in Apia, Samoa. He is an enthusiastic individual and passionate about what he is doing, especially utilising his meteorological, climate change, and renewable energy knowledge in his agri-business operations and consultancy services. He is a graduate meteorologist and also has a degree in physics and technology. He is applying his knowledge to promote climate-smart agriculture by integrating traditional methods with new ideas and technology that improve agriculture production while keeping the soil healthy in a better way that improves healthy and safe food. He is also practicing a regenerative farming system by mixing crops and animals. This is one of the reasons he strongly supports Climate-resilient Agriculture in the Pacific project. He was involved in his family farm from a young age; he was also doing part-time farming while working for the government of Samoa, and it took him ten years of planning to become a commercial farmer and exporter, a career that requires commitment and passion to succeed.
