Marta Monjardino: Senior Agrifood Systems Economist

Dr Marta Monjardino is a Senior Agrifood Systems Economist and Acting Team Leader (Systems Analysis) at CSIRO Agriculture and Food and is based at the Waite Campus, Adelaide, Australia. Her cross-cutting skills in integrating production simulation, economic performance, farmer attitudes, and other metrics have been used to generate timely and accurate evidence to support informed farm decisions, research priorities, and government policy in risky contexts. Impactful grower-engaged systems analysis promoting the sustainable intensification of broadacre farms in Australia further extends to smallholder systems in south and southeast Asia, southern Africa and the Pacific via ACIAR/DFAT-funded projects, as well as in central Mexico through a CIMMYT collaboration in 2020.

In the Climate-resilient Agriculture in the Pacific project Marta applies integrated systems modelling approaches to evaluate the relative contribution of alternative farm practices and technologies towards more profitable, resilient, and secure agri-food systems.
