Our Approach

Science

We are developing a portfolio of research that will help:

  1. Expand the knowledge base on how to build agrifood systems’ capacity to respond to complex challenges, such as climate change and non-communicable diseases
  2. Develop technical solutions for specific food system challenges priorities, for example, nature-based solutions to address water scarcity.

Impact

Working with partners, our pilot initiatives are building the capacity of food systems to address the challenges of:

  • climate change impacts on agrifood systems
  • resilience of agrifood systems to disasters and market shocks
  • strengthening nutrition in food systems
  • more sustainable agrifood systems.

Partnership

We are establishing new and strengthened collaborations at the regional and country level to connect across the agrifood system.

  • In Australia, across government, university and other research institutions to coordinate and work on joint initiatives.
  • In the Pacific, with SPC, SPREP and other international organisations active in the region.
  • In our pilot activities (country level), with government, civil society, research and other organisations across multiple sectors, including agriculture, health and fisheries.
