Australian National Soil Archive (ANSA)
The National Soil Monitoring Program aims to collection of approximately 30,000 soil samples from 3,000 sites across Australia between 2024-2028. To maximise the value of the NSMP investment, it is intended that the 30,000 samples will be permanently stored in a soil archive for future research and as the baseline for soil health and trend across the 20 years of the planned monitoring work.
The Australian National Soil Archive contains about 70,000 samples from almost 10,000 sites across Australia, the oldest dating back to 1924.
This project has been supported by funding through the Australian Government Natural Heritage Trust (Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry) under the National Soil Monitoring Program in collaboration with CSIRO
