Ming Ding was invited to chair the workshop on 5G heterogeneous and small cell networks (HetSNets) in IEEE Globecom 2017 to be held in Singapore this December. This workshop on 5G heterogeneous and small cell networks, which is a new edition of a series of workshops, i.e., IEEE Globecom 2013 Intl. Workshop on Heterogeneous and Small Cell NetworksIEEE Globecom 2014 Intl. Workshop on Heterogeneous and Small Cell Networks and IEEE Globecom 2015 Intl. Workshop on Heterogeneous and Small Cell Networks and IEEE Globecom 2016 Intl. Workshop on Heterogeneous and Small Cell Networks, will bring together top academic and industrial engineers and researchers to discuss technical challenges and recent results related to the latest developments in 5G. The workshop will be comprised of a number of short lightning talks to share the views of chip makers, vendors, operators and academics. Topics of interest that will be covered mainly include but are not restricted to, ultra-dense networks, massive MIMO, millimeter Wave, unlicensed band technologies and co-existence, Internet of things and new network devices as well as new network architectures and standards to accommodate all these technologies.
