Dr Stephen Craig

NEAC Director

  • Stephen has experience in applied research, strategy development and commercial innovation in systems engineering and digital technologies. Prior to joining CSIRO, he led the national centre of excellence for Digital Engineering at Boeing Defence Australia, and held leadership roles in mobile communication systems R&D at Ericsson. As NEAC Director, Steve sets the business strategy and leads the team.

Dr Amro Farid

Principal Systems Scientist

  • Based at the Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey, USA, Amro is a world-leading authority on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for multi-energy systems. He provides the scientific vision and guidance for NEAC’s Systems Science Toolbox.

Dr Carolyn Huston

Principal Research Consultant

  • Carolyn is an experienced data scientist and statistician. She ensures that NEAC’s foundational data models and methods are scientifically sound and accessible for others to adopt for NEAC’s broader digitalisation-of-science agenda.

Dr John Gardner

Senior Social Scientist

  • John brings deep knowledge of applying social science to the energy sector, with strong connections into the industry and leading the difficult conversations in the energy transformation around equity and empowerment.

Mr Charlie Mere

Design Lead

  • Charlie led the Design Thinking Practice in CSIRO, applying human centred methods with scientific approaches to address societal challenges. He has a solid background in digital design and is an expert in co-design techniques, large scale stakeholder engagement, and facilitation of design and innovation programs. Charlie is leading the design of NEAC.

Mrs Claire Jordan-Peters

Strategic Engagement Lead

  • With a background in chemical engineering and expertise in communications and community relations, Claire has decades of experience in the energy industry. Passionate about the energy transition, Claire provides communications support to NEAC and is part of the NEAC service development team.

Dr Stephen Snow

Research Project Leader

  • Stephen is a social scientist with experience spanning pro-environmental behaviour change, energy literacy, regional transitions and agricultural energy tariffs. Currently leading CSIRO’s contribution to the Scenarios for Future Living trial with the RACE for 2030 CRC, he is NEAC’s boots-on-the-ground and loves engaging with households around energy use.
