These ecologically meaningful national datasets can be used to assess the condition of the Australian environment and how it changes over time.

For example, progress against national environmental goals and targets such as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and Measuring What Matters.

These data will be used as inputs for the National Ecosystem Accounting Project (NEAP) to contribute to a set of enduring national accounts aligned with the System for Environmental-Economic Accounting—Ecosystem Accounting (SEEA EA).

These datasets build on the work undertaken in the regional ecosystem accounting projects as well as previously released Australian Government environmental-economic accounts.
