Team

Senior Research Scientist

  • Dr Gallart leads the Microbial Technologies team; dedicated to harnessing and advancing innovative technologies for the discovery, development, and application of beneficial microbes and their derivatives in crop protection, plant health, and sustainable agriculture.
Dr Louise Thatcher

Principal Research Scientist

  • Dr Thatcher leads a biologicals crop protection science area in CSIRO Agriculture & Food. Her research aims to maintain or improve crop productivity under a resource-limited future, mitigate the impacts of resistance development in traditional crop protection controls, and safeguard agriculture in the face of emerging biosecurity threats. She has demonstrated success in formulating and conducting H1 research delivering industry specific outcomes, through to strategic H3 research building capability, capacity and connections to advance Australia’s biologicals industry and its adoption on farm.

Dr Lachlan Dow

Research Scientist

  • Dr Dow is chemical biologist with experience in microbiology, chemical ecology and natural products.

Dr Sally Buck

Research Scientist

  • Dr Buck is a plant scientist, with experience in plant molecular biology, genetics and high-throughput phenotyping.

Senior Research Technician

  • Dr Esquirol is a biochemist with extensive experience in molecular biology, protein purification and enzyme characterization. She leads microbiology and fermentation research in the team and works on the discovery of natural products from the Actinobacteria collection.

Post-doctoral Research Fellow

  • Dr Nowak is a CERC Fellow and part of the CSIRO Advanced Engineering Biology Future Science Platform (AEB FSP). He is a microbial biotechnologist working with a collection of endophytic Actinobacteria. His work revolves around mutli-omic methods and strain engineering to characterise the natural product and other potential this strain collection holds.

Dr Bea Apirajkamol

Research Technician

  • Dr Apirajkamol is a biotechnologist with experience in biological control of insect pests and working with entomopathogens and other microbial collections.

Alex Gloria

Research Technician

  • Alex is a biochemist and molecular biologist. She is experienced in analytical chemistry techniques, including NMR, as well as their respective sample preparation, data processing, and data analysis methods.

Annalise Taylor

PhD student

  • Annalise is an Industry PhD student, part of a joint CSIRO, ECU and Nufarm project.
