Dr Lauren Roman is an affiliate to CSIRO Environment research unit, and is currently working as an ARC DECRA Fellow at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, University of Tasmania. Lauren has been conducting research on both seabirds and marine pollution (with a focus on plastic pollution) for the past decade, and has worked with numerous state, federal and international organisations related to these research fields. Lauren’s research combines field work, laboratory analysis and statistical modelling to address ecological questions concerning each seabirds and marine pollution. Recent projects have included harmonising marine debris monitoring datasets within and across national boundaries, with a focus on baseline research on marine litter in South East Asia, which she continues to be involved in.

Lauren has a PhD in Quantitative Marine Science from the University of Tasmania, completed in 2018.
