New video – Pathways to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inclusion and co-design in restoration

October 4th, 2024

A new video from Marine and Coastal Hub project ‘Identifying and overcoming barriers to marine and coastal habitat restoration and nature-based solutions in Australia’ has recently been released.

The video outlines four key enablers that were identified as necessary to improve opportunities for Indigenous participation and leadership in coastal marine restoration in Australia. To achieve these four enablers, we provided key stepping stones for the audience: individuals working in the coastal marine restoration space including, Traditional Owners, Western-based groups (such as practitioners and researchers), and funders and decision makers. The aim of this video is to provide pathways to enable Indigenous communities to fully participate in the restoration space to achieve coastal marine restoration at scale, build resilient human and ecological communities, provide opportunities for spiritual and cultural reconciliation and to ultimately, create shared social, economical and ecological benefits.
