Kanar is a Research Scientist with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Australia. His research interests encompass areas of primary industry economics and value chains. He has expertise in dynamic simulation models, policy design and analysis, and scenario analysis. Kanar has more than five years of research experience working on agricultural value chains. He has been working in collaboration with multiple international organisations, using a system dynamics approach, on value chain projects such as farmed Atlantic salmon in Norway; goats in Mozambique; beef in Botswana; African Swine Fever in Uganda; dairy in Tanzania; pigs in Vietnam; amaranth in East Africa; potatoes in India, and beef and cassava in Indonesia. He has delivered capacity building programs around the world, through the administration of value chain and system dynamics intensive courses, covering the theory and application of system dynamics and value chains on different commodities (livestock and crops). Kanar works on modelling livestock system dynamics for LiveGAPS.
