Middy is working on the hydrophones project, together with Dr Pascal Craw, to track illegal fishing in Indonesia. We have developed a tracking system which consists of a controller board and an Iridium unit communicating with an existing hydrophone. The hydrophone is converted, becoming an explosion detector. In the occurrence of underwater explosion, the hydrophone records the event and sends serial signals to our controller board. The message is processed and reached Iridium server which is then forwarded to a group of designated email addresses. We have conducted our tracking system which is able to detect and notify the authorities via emails if explosions occur. We have developed a few versions of the device and successfully detected explosions.
