Team goals
CSIRO (and partner organisations) to conduct research aimed at enabling enforcement through improved use of monitoring information to:
- Improve fisheries management, in particular the quality of fisheries statistics and the information available to support enforcement, through the improved use of multiple sources of monitoring data and information;
- Increase the value of information available from fisheries monitoring data for fisheries management; and
- Increase the research and technical and operational capacity of partner organisations.
Working together, the teams are developing case studies on illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing related issues. Using a combination of statistical algorithms, satellite data and ground-truthing information, we are modelling vessel behaviours to increase enforcement opportunities.
