What we do

The Hub will offer an information portal through the website, with links to documents and other websites. Activities currently being developed for the period 2020-2022 by the Hub include:

1. Young visiting scientist program. Each year, starting in 2019-20 we will support a young scientist from an IORA Member State to visit the Hub. Visits would be from 6-8 weeks duration, and visiting scientists will be selected through a competitive process including an open call for applications.
2. Think tank series. The Hub will host think tanks on critical issues each year. An initial think tank on blue carbon finance will be held in early 2020. More details will be posted when available.
3. Expedition program. Noting that we lack information about key parameters for much of the Indian Ocean region, the Hub is also developing an expedition program. The expeditions will convene individuals with specific skills sets, and mount dedicated data collection efforts in a particular place. We aim to mount the first expedition in 2020-21.
