BDVA

The International Symposium on Big Data Visual Analytics (BDVA) was founded and co-chaired in 2015 by Ulrich Engelke (CSIRO Data61), Tomasz Bednarz (CSIRO Data61), and Julian Heinrich (formerly CSIRO Data61, now Bayer, Germany) through seed funding from the CSIRO. The first edition was held in Hobart with Karsten Klein (formerly Monash University, now University of Konstanz, Germany) and Quang Vinh Nguyen (Western Sydney University) as technical programme chairs. BDVA moved on to Sydney in 2016 and to Adelaide in 2017.

In 2018, BDVA will go international and will be hosted by the University of Konstanz with Falk Schreiber as General Chair and Eduard Groller (TU Wien, Austria) and Kim Marriott (Monash University, Australia) as technical programme chairs. With the strong support of the immersive analytics research community, BDVA changed its title to Big Data Visual and Immersive Analytics, while retaining the acronym BDVA.

BDVA has been the annual flagship event in Australia bringing together researchers from academia, industry, and research organisations that have an interest in the multidisciplinary topics around visual and immersive analytics. It will continue on this path into the future setting foot onto the international stage!
