Andy Hall: Senior Principle Research Scientist

Andy is a Senior Principle Research Scientist with CSIRO Agriculture and Food in Australia and was a visiting Professor at Open University in the United Kingdom. He is a science and technology policy analyst with a specialisation in the study and design of agriculture innovation processes, policies and practices.

Andy uses innovation systems perspective to guide the design of practice and policy that strengthen agri-food systems innovation performance. Andy has done pioneering research on the nature and performance of agricultural innovation systems and more recently has explored the conditions and enablers of transformational innovation in agri-food systems. Andy has published extensively on these topic.

Andy has held positions at the National Agricultural Research Organisation in Uganda, the Natural Resources Institute in the United Kingdom, the International Crops Research institute for the Semi-Arid Tropic (ICRISAT), India and the United Nations University Institute for Economics Research on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT) in the Netherlands and India. He also worked as a consultant advising multiple international agencies on effective innovation practice.
