Ben Leighton
Ben is a software engineer, data scientist and technical lead. He maintains a life long interest in science and through science hopes that the world can become more equitable, sustainable, and fulfilling. Starting from a background in Philosophy and Biology Ben worked in private industry building data transformation pipelines. At CSIRO he has, and continues to work, across a wide variety of topics ranging through environmental modeling, data visualization, machine vision, and data work flows and management. He works to support science by engineering solutions for high quality, reproducible, scientific data processes. Ben is a certified SCRUM master and leads technical efforts in managing critical information infrastructure. He researches and implements robust information infrastructures. He is an experienced DevOps practitioner and one of the early adopters of container based approaches for scientific systems at CSIRO.
