Still wrangling data?
In order to leverage data for answering questions and gaining insight on a topic of research, often we need to wrangle data, that is the process of cleaning data and formatting it so that it is usable. Wrangling data is considered an essential skill for data science. However, our vision for the future is that we get away from “still wrangling data” to a seamless use of the data that is needed, when it is needed.
The CSIRO Environmental Informatics group is developing tools, methods and practices to enable streamlined use of data for decision makers, managers and researchers wanting answers to questions for environmental sustainability or management.
