By: Callum Hollingsworth
Dr Eric Woehler works in the school of zoology at the University of Tasmania. He is on board the RV Investigator to study the Spatial and Temporal Variability in the Distribution and Abundance of Seabirds. This involves creating zones around the ship and recording all birdlife that fall within these zones.
Eric is a very active researcher contributing articles to many journals, as well as playing a large role in education at University of Tasmania, mentoring numerous PhD students.
Dr Woehler has spent many days at sea studying marine life. One of the highlights from him was spotting approximately 180 very curious pilot whales. The whales shadowed the vessel for 3 days before moving on!
