Closed Loop Sensing

Closed loop sensing refers to systems that analyse sensed data for making decisions or taking actions in response to dynamic context changes. This is often referred to as the sense-think-act loop that is characteristic of many automated or autonomous systems. The Distributed Sensing Systems Group has researched closed loop sensing for diverse goals, ranging from the distributed control of heating ventilation and air conditioning systems, to the in-situ adaptive sampling of sensors based on contextual changes, and control of livestock movement with virtual fences. Virtual fencing is being commercialised by Agersens. Read more about our projects in this area through by clicking on the images below.
