Mapping future road transport passages and volumes for improved planning designs

December 8th, 2020

CSIRO is analysing road and rail freight costs, flow and impacts for the Beetaloo Sub-basin in the Northern Territory.

Using the Transport Network Strategic Investments Tool (TraNSIT) developed by CSIRO, the project will consider both construction and operational phases, and test a range of interventions that may increase road safety while reducing costs and impacts on the environment and local communities. This will provide decision support information including: freight task increase from current baseline costs for transport, CO2 impacts, road maintenance impacts and impacts for dust on agriculture and human health.
