Registrar

March 14th, 2017

The registrar handles registration of new knowledge-stacks, automatic launching of a new instances of the knowledge-stack, and maintenance services. No background in a programming must be required for a user to register and instantiate a new instance of the knowledge-stack.

Questions below are intended to facilitate discussions during the Digital Coast meeting (April, 2017)

Questions

  • Centralised vs decentralised registrars? If a separate registrar is attached to every individual instance of the knowledge-stack then the whole system becomes fully decentralised.
  • Open source vs corporate. An open source might be easier to maintain, particularly, during the time of scarce funding.
  • Would it make sense to consider light-weight knowledge-stacks, which can link to other stacks but do not host their own data.
  • Privacy, terms of use, IP etc.
