Venue: Auditorium, Division of Oceans & Atmosphere, Castrey Esplanade 1, Hobart, Tasmania 7001, Australia.  Date: 11-12 April 2017

Objectives

Numerical models applied to different environmental domains almost never combine into an integrated image of the whole Earth. Establishing a scalable solution overarching individual models and integrating them into a single meaningful entity would result in a step-change in our ability to understand and manage complex environments. The goal of this meeting is to review the state of the art in this area and discuss future directions.

Presentations by Invited Speakers

  • John Taylor – (CSIRO Data61) ‘Building modern infrastructures to support complex, integrated and sustainable modelling and data analytics research’

In this presentation, I shall examine efforts over the past 10 years by CSIRO to develop and sustain world class capabilities to support modelling and data analytics research. I will present examples of other major national initiatives, e.g. NeCTAR and Xsede, and major international projects, such as NanoHub, to develop modern research infrastructures with national and global reach. Finally, I will look at major recent developments such as Blockchain and the role of Artificial Intelligence to transform data management, analytics and simulation.
