Dr Paul Sandery joined the Decadal Climate Forecasting Project in 2018.

Paul is working on the development and implementation of the CAFE-EnKF data assimilation system, which synthesises coupled model forecasts and observations. The system will be used to carry out a 30 year coupled ocean-atmosphere-sea-ice reanalysis, create initial conditions for climate forecasts and provide new information on processes in the ocean and atmosphere driving change in climate. Currently his research is focussed on coupled data assimilation, sea-ice prediction, observation system experiments and improving forecast models through parameter estimation.
