Guillaume Rongier

Postdoctoral fellow in simulation and geostatistics

I am a numerical geologist interested in better characterizing geological structures and processes based on partial information.

I acquired my core background during my master and doctoral projects, which focused on developing and implementing new stochastic simulation methods to model the subsurface for hydrogeological and petroleum applications. Since then, I have been expanding my background to new areas, in particular to using artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to support decision making in geosciences.

Within Deep Earth Imaging, my research is part of the data assimilation and value of information research theme.

Technical Skills

– Diverse background mixing geosciences, numerical modeling, and programming
– Experience of developing new methods to gain insight on geological structures
– Strong modeling experience of the subsurface
– Programming abilities in C++, Python, R, and Matlab
