New PhD Projects

Deep Earth Imaging is proud to sponsor PhD research projects at Australian universities on topics that are aligned with our mission to make better images of the subsurface. We look forward to working with new postgraduate students and their faculty supervisors at the Australian National University, Curtin University, Macquarie University, the University of New South Wales and the University of Western Australia.

The selected research topics include:

  • Characterising the seismic regolith to improve deep earth imaging by active seismic methods
  • Development of variational inference methods at the crustal and lithospheric scales
  • Enhanced seismic imaging of crustal and upper mantle structure
  • Multiscale rock characterisation for siliciclastic reservoirs
  • Novel approaches to prospectivity mapping
  • Physical/geochemical processes within the lithosphere
  • Targeted probabilistic inversions of geophysical data at the cluster/camp exploration scale
  • Technical challenges in deep mining
  • Towards an automated kinematic restoration of sedimentary basins
