Since November 2012 the C3 has operated as a ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory; we are the first macromolecular crystallisation and characterisation R&D facility in the world to achieve this level of operation. The accreditation process was completed by the National Association of Testing Authorities (Australia), who conduct the comprehensive assessment process required to provide this level of accreditation which is recognised within Australia and internationally.
What is ISO 17025? This ISO standard provides a framework for the requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. In the case of the C3, we adhere to a specific interpretation of ISO/IEC 17025 for research using CITAC Guide CG2 “Quality Assurance for Research and Non Routine Analysis” (1998).
Why did we do it? We recognise that the process of crystallisation is difficult enough without introducing unreliable lab practices, and operating under an ISO certified quality management system means that we can assure you that the C3 conducts all tests with as much robustness and traceability as physically and mentally possible.
What does this mean for you? You can be confident that by sending your samples to us for screening assays that we have the processes in place to make sure that each test is conducted by a highly trained operator under strict quality assurance conditions.
In summary, C3 promises to provide a research/testing technology platform that advocates and demonstrates the best possible practices. The C3 will achieve this by establishing and following good governance and management protocols, through appropriate acknowledgement of our collaborators and providing confidential and secure delivery and archiving of test results to our clients.
The C3 will adhere to the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research as developed by the NHMRC, ARC and Universities Australia.
The C3 will fulfill the criteria outlined by the Australian Standard (AS) release of the ISO/IEC 17025 Standard Application Document for accreditation of testing and calibration facilities (2015) as interpreted for a research setting through the NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) R&D accreditation. The C3 will complete all client requested tests which fall under the scope of AS/ISO 17025 in accordance with a NATA accredited Quality Management system.
