International collaboration
Building diverse, resilient and sustainable supply chains through international partnerships
The Hub is working with like-minded partners to integrate the critical minerals research ecosystem and identify joint R&D opportunities which will accelerate innovative solutions and support diverse, resilient and sustainable supply chains. This vision is in line with the Australian Government’s Critical Minerals Strategy 2023-2030 and other initiatives, such as the Future Made in Australia Act.
Australia’s international critical minerals R&D engagement is extensive and growing through established bilateral partnerships with likeminded partners.

Established international partnerships.
Australia also plays a leadership role in multilateral forums where critical minerals supply chains, standards and strategic issues are discussed.
More information on Australia’s bilateral and multilateral partnerships is available on the Department of Industry, Science and Resources website.
The objectives of the Hub’s international program are to:
- Strengthen capacity to lead and coordinate international R&D engagement
- Build the knowledge base to inform future decision making
- Build skills and capability needed to support international supply chains
- Leverage technical expertise to strengthen policy engagement and promote foreign investment
- Progress international R&D collaboration with strategic partners.
R&D opportunities with Australia’s critical minerals partners
The Hub received a $2.5 million grant to progress international collaboration and bring a cohesive and strategic approach to critical minerals R&D opportunities that will help deliver against the Government’s objectives in global supply chains.

Driving innovation.
Connecting the critical minerals research ecosystem
The Hub plays a central role in Australia connecting the critical minerals R&D ecosystem. We take part in international conferences such as IMARC, PDAC (where we are represented by Hub partners CSIRO and Geoscience Australia) and EU Raw Materials Week where we can provide information on Australian capability and facilitate contacts.
The Hub will also deliver a study program and fellowship program in 2025. More information will be available soon.
