Building diverse, resilient and sustainable supply chains through strategic international partnerships.
Supporting, coordinating and facilitating collaboration between Australia and like-minded international partners is one of the fundamental reasons for the creation of the Hub.
The Hub does this by advancing international research and development (R&D) engagement to support strategic supply chains, resulting in the acceleration of innovative solutions and diverse, resilient and sustainable supply chains.
This vision is in line with the Australian Government’s Critical Minerals Strategy 2023-2030 and other initiatives, such as the Future Made in Australia Act.
To support this important work, the Hub received a $2.5 million grant to progress international collaboration and bring a cohesive and strategic approach to critical minerals R&D opportunities that will help deliver against the Government’s objectives in global supply chains.
The objectives of the Hub’s international program are to:
- Strengthen capacity to lead and coordinate international R&D engagement
- Build the knowledge base to inform future decision making
- Build skills and capability needed to support international supply chains
- Leverage technical expertise to strengthen policy engagement and promote foreign investment
- Progress international R&D collaboration with strategic partners.
Australia’s international critical minerals R&D engagement is extensive and growing through established bilateral partnerships with likeminded partners.

Established international relationships
Australia also plays a leadership role in multilateral forums where critical minerals supply chains, standards and strategic issues are discussed.
More information on Australia’s bilateral and multilateral partnerships is available on the Department of Industry, Science and Resources website.
