Global grants for ground-breaking research

June 24th, 2025

Applications are now open for researchers looking to take their critical minerals R&D to the world through the Critical Minerals R&D Hub International Scholarship program.

Eligible researchers can access up to $10,000 per month, for a maximum of 6 months, to travel to a pre-approved country to conduct R&D activities including: collaborative joint research; fact-finding missions to better understanding international research agencies’ capabilities; and to explore opportunities for future collaboration or attendance at conferences.

Manager of the Australian Critical Minerals R&D Hub Lucy O’Connor said this was a unique opportunity for researchers from science agencies, industry, and universities to make international connections and develop their R&D proposals abroad.

“This type of funding is so important to help enable our research community to advance, test, develop, and collaborate on R&D ideas related to critical minerals supply chains,

“The Hub is so pleased to be able to supply these grants as a key pillar of our mission to foster strategic international critical minerals collaboration that will accelerate innovation needed in the sector ,” Ms O’Connor said.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis with funding approved for travel based on the detail of the application.
