Water 2 – St Gregory’s College

St Gregory’s College students have developed a solution to run water through the school to their school farm.

We are designing and creating a water harvesting model that will run from our school’s music room that will be referred to as 300 block down to one of our water tanks near our farm. Our water harvesting system will require and have many downpipes that run from the top of 300 block, then they will connect together and continue going down the hills. The water then enters our water turbine with enough speed that it will generate electricity for our water pump which will make the water run faster down towards the water tank and towards the farm to the cattle and sheep.

Our group all learnt a lot of things from this project such as how to use different technology, how to program the technology, how to use a raindrop sensor and how to use pipes and cardboard to build a model in real life. Some of the benefits from this idea would be that our farm gets a lot more water for the animals and feed for the cattle and sheep e.g. the grass, that both cattle and sheep eat.
