Mental Health – Thomas Reddall High School
Our project is a Community Centre which helps people with mental health that have been admitted to the hospital and for people who have been medically diagnosed with depression and anxiety. The centre helps people get back on their feet and learn how to live and become independent within themselves. The challenges we have faced are coming up with the right age appropriate admissions. Another challenge is that we didn’t know what idea to come up with because we didn’t know what a good idea would be to help people with bad mental health.
We have learnt about a few different ways that our physical environment as well as different activities can improve our mental health. The benefits from this idea is that people with mental health concerns learn to work independently and be able to recover from their past. The people that will benefit from this are the people with bad mental health and also their families who are worried for them and their wellbeing. Hopefully, the community centre will help them rebuild skills such as cooking, cleaning and dealing with stressors in their daily life. It will also help them form connections with others and build environments that keep them healthy when they move to independent living.
