Item sorter for manufacturing businesses

Unorganised storage has become an increasing problem in small, medium and large manufacturing companies and my team believe that we have just the solution. Our group thought to sort boxes into groups before they were taken away for further storage. We then came up with the idea to use a machine to sort the boxes when unloaded from trucks in a manufacturer’s loading area. These boxes will be scanned and sorted via conveyor belts to their respective locations to be taken away for later storage. This idea will also relieve the stress and workload of some employees and reduce the risk of back injuries when transporting heavy objects by hand.

There were a lot of challenges when creating ideas we thought would work. There were multiple ideas we had that simply had a lot of faults. Another challenge was figuring out how to sort heavy boxes without destroying the machine. To combat this, we came up with the idea to make the conveyor on the ground with a steel frame, there will also be the option of the carbon fibre frame for a sturdier machine.
