Garry Hopwood: Experimental Scientist

Garry spent his early career developing data management and analysis systems for hydrographic and oceanographic data for the Royal Australian Navy and the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea. He then moved out of the marine environment, doing similar work at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN, and the Bureau of Meteorology. In 2012, Garry moved to CSIRO, and has been working in close collaboration with Data61 to provide quality control to field data, data visualisation and statistical analysis in a broad range of climate related projects that include heat stress on cattle, value chain management, frost forecasting, extreme future climate forecasting, and farm optimisation modelling.
