Climate Information Centres

Climate Information Centres (CLICs) have been piloted as a one-stop information centre that combines ICT, traditional and scientific knowledge of weather, and local rainfall measurements and interpretation, to support farmers to make decisions as their season unfolds.

CLICs is all about:

  • Infrastructure facilitating easy access to external support systems (extension system, agriculture universities & departments)
  • Reliable & easily accessible database to supplement & strengthen local knowledge base
  • Tools to analyze information & build capacities for decision making at farm level
  • Connect & strengthen informal networks; extend networks to socio-economically weak & disadvantaged groups within the farming community

Digital CLICs operated by a village based trained operator
