Immersive Experiences Lab
The Data61 / CSIRO Immersive Experiences Lab (IXL) allows us to do user experience research using state of the art immersive technologies such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) head sets.
Some of the systems that we have available include:
- Oculus Rift VR head set
- HTC Vive head set
- EPSON BT 200 AR head set
- Leap motion hands free interaction controllers
- Tablet PCs for mobile AR
- High end workstations with powerful graphic cards
- High end projector
- Large screen displays with accurate colour reproduction
The lab’s co-location with the Cognitive Informatics Lab allows us to quantitatively measure experiences of users when immersed into their task and environment.
Our focus is currently on immersive analytics and we are developing and testing methods that allow for an effective path from data to insight using immersive technologies.
