Calibration Laboratory Salinity Bath Autosampler

The Problem

Sampling water from CSIRO’s National Collections and Marine Infrastructure (NCMI) calibration lab’s salinity bath has to be done at specific times, which meant that lab staff would sometimes need to be in the lab at late hours. The sampling has to be carefully and cleanly conducted to ensure accuracy and avoid any contamination.

Our solution

The Sensor Prototyping Hub has been working on improving a design for an automatic sampling device. The device has an array of sample bottles that can be filled from the bath automatically, and cleaned easily.

Our Collaborators

The engineering work is being done by Jack Waller and is done in collaboration with Kai van den Hoff of the NCMI calibration facility.
