MyMate and Internet of Robotic Things Platform for Aged Care

MyMate is an Internet of Robotic Things (IoRT) environment designed to support aged care.

The Problem

The current age care system has failed to meet the needs of many older Australians. As we grapple with an increasingly aging population and a decline in the aged care workforce there needs to be a paradigm shift in aged care, to promote autonomy and independence, prevent social isolation, and foster physical and cognitive well-being in older Australians.

Our Solution

MyMate is an Internet of Robotic Things (IoRT) environment designed to support aged care. We will explore new network architectures in which centralized cloud processing is combined with edge-distributed processing to address trade-offs between the network of static and mobile nodes. The use of edge computing will also make it possible to move some data processing closer to the end-user applications and onto devices that require real-time responses.
