Integrated AI-assisted system for health monitoring and support

March 17th, 2023

Imagine a 24/7 caretaker who helps monitor your wellbeing, arranges doctor appointments and reminds you to take the pills. That day is now closer than you think.

VAIPE is a project aimed to build an intelligent healthcare system to assist users in collecting, managing, and analysing their health-related data. The system enables users to collect heterogeneous data captured from multiple sources using a smartphone camera, provides visualisations of analytical and predicted results, and includes functions to support users, for example, reminding of medication schedules and warning of early-disease risks.

Funded by VinIF, VAIPE is AI-assisted and involves original R&D by VinUniversity, Hanoi University of Science & Technology (HUST), The University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston), and The University of South Florida (USF).

Fuelled by multiple sources and types of data, including Vietnamese-specified and real-time data, VAIPE is expected to provide a complete suite of convenient functions for personal and home healthcare. Some advanced functions equipped for VAIPE that were lacking in preceding apps/platforms of the same kind include recognition of prescription, detection of medication, and assessment of electrocardiogram.

Recently at AI4VN 2022, Vietnam’s leading platform for AI tech, VAIPE was the most voted initiative (by the AI community and experts) and received the AI Awards for its original idea, advancement to other competing products, potential efficiency and impact it can bring about for the users. The AI Awards was sponsored by Aus4Innovation as part of the Program’s agenda to bring forward the role of AI in Vietnam.
