FRM4SOC OC Training Course

By

Gemma Kerrisk recently attended the Copernicus FICE-25 training course hosted by the Institute of Marine Science (CNR-ISMAR), Italy. Based in Venice, the two-week course provided a combination of classroom and practical training from top ocean colour experts in making measurements of in situ ocean colour towards satellite validation and biogeochemical applications and is delivered under the EU Copernicus Programme FRM4SOC program. Participants had  the opportunity to observe measurements being taken at the Acqua Alta Oceanographic Tower (AAOT), learn how to process these measurements, characterise their uncertainties, and ultimately match them up with satellite ocean colour data. Whilst there she also installed an upgraded HydraSpectra instrument on the AAOT, replacing the unit installed in 2023.
